UYSF COMPETITION GUIDELINES & STRUCTURE

Universal Yoga Sports Federation (UYSF)
Promoting Global Standards in Yogasana Sport Competitions Worldwide

1. Athlete Eligibility

Each year, National Championships serve as the foundation for selection to the UYSF World Yoga Cup.
The top three male and top three female athletes from each division qualify for international participation.

UYSF recognizes the following competition divisions:

  • Sub Junior Division (6–12 Years) – Boys / Girls

  • Junior Division (13–17 Years) – Boys / Girls

  • Adult Division (18–40 Years) – Men’s / Women’s

  • Senior Master Division (41–75 Years) – Men’s / Women’s

  • Mom’s Special Group – Below 35 or Above 35 Years

Each year, up to 30 athletes may qualify for the International Championships through their National Federations.
The top three ranked athletes from both 2023 and 2024 automatically qualify for the UYSF World Yoga Cup 2025.

In cases of repeat qualifications or athlete withdrawal, the next eligible competitor (4th, 5th, etc.) may be nominated according to UYSF selection regulations.

2. Qualification Pathway for the World Championship

4. Age Classification

5. Judges’ Certification & Categories

To ensure fairness and professional integrity, UYSF classifies judges into three certification levels:

A. International Judge (A-Level)

  • Certified through the UYSF International Judges Training Program.

  • Must be nominated by their National Federation.

  • Eligible to officiate at World and Continental Championships.

  • Certification valid for 2 years (USD 50 membership included).

B. National Judge (B-Level)

  • Trained and certified by the National Federation under UYSF guidelines.

  • Authorized to officiate at National Championships.

C. Regional Judge (C-Level)

  • Certified by the National Federation for regional and local competitions.

  • Must complete a Basic Judging Clinic.

Note:
Judges may not coach during the competition season. They cannot judge any athlete to whom they are related or have coached directly.

6. Coaches’ Certification & Classification

Coaches are certified under three UYSF qualification levels:

A. International Coach (A-Level)

  • Certified by UYSF and eligible to coach at global competitions.

  • Existing World Yoga Cup medalist coaches qualify directly for A-Level certification.

  • Each NF must have one Head Coach (A-Level) to coordinate with UYSF.

B. National Coach (B-Level)

  • Certified by their National Federation to coach at national-level championships.

C. Regional Coach (C-Level)

  • Certified by the National Federation and eligible for regional and local competitions.

Note:
A coach cannot serve as a judge during the same competition season.

7. Judging Standards for International Events

​Only A-Level certified judges are eligible to officiate at UYSF World and Continental Championships.
All appointments are made by the UYSF Technical Committee to maintain transparency and uphold the federation’s ethical standards.

8. Ethical Conduct & Conflict of Interest

UYSF upholds high ethical and moral standards for all officials, athletes, coaches, and judges.

Private Trainings & Business Activities

  • Officials may conduct personal yoga workshops or training programs under their own brand.

  • No personal brand may act as an official sponsor or promotional partner during UYSF-sanctioned events.

Coaching & Judging Separation

  • Judges cannot conduct workshops or private sessions for competing athletes before or during competitions.

  • All pre-competition and certification events must be organized under UYSF or the National Federation.

Private Studios

  • Organizers who own private yoga studios may sponsor events only by contributing financially as an independent donor, not as a UYSF partner.

Non-UYSF Competitions

  • UYSF members may participate in non-UYSF events, provided such events do not use official terms such as “World,” “Continental,” or “National Championship.”

  • If UYSF rules, scoring systems, or branding are used, written consent and credit to UYSF are mandatory.

9. Judging Panel Composition

  • Regional Events: 3–5 C-Level Judges + 1 Time Judge

  • National Events: 3–7 B-Level Judges + 1 Time Judge

  • Continental Events: 5–7 A-Level Judges + 1 Time Judge

  • World Events: 7 A-Level Judges + 1 Time Judge

Each event must have one designated Head Judge to oversee coordination, compliance, and scoring integrity.

10. Scoring Procedure

  • Judges must record all scores electronically using the official UYSF Scoring Platform.

  • In case of an appeal, judges may refer to official performance recordings to verify accuracy.

  • No communication or discussion is permitted between judges during performances to maintain impartiality and professional conduct.

​Only A-Level certified judges are eligible to officiate at UYSF World and Continental Championships.
All appointments are made by the UYSF Technical Committee to maintain transparency and uphold the federation’s ethical standards.
